Specimen Requirements

Plasma and urine are required.

 

Plasma should be drawn midway into timed urine collection. Recommended interval for urine collection is 12 hours or 24 hours.

 

Specimen Type: Plasma 

Container/Tube: Mint-green top (lithium heparin)

Specimen Volume: 2 mL

Collection Instructions:

1. Avoid hemolysis.

2. Label specimen as plasma.

 

Specimen Type: Urine, 12-, 24- hour

Container/Tube: Plastic urine container

Specimen Volume: Entire collection

Collection Instructions: No preservative. Refrigerate specimen during collection.
Additional Information:

1. Starting and ending times and duration of collection are required.
2. Follow instructions in Urine Collection in Special Instructions.

CREATININE, PLASMA

Males

≥20 yrs: 0.70-1.40 mg/dL

4yrs-20 yrs: 0.20-1.20 mg/dL
0-4 yrs: 0.10-0.50 mg/dL

Females

≥20 yrs: 0.60-1.30 mg/dL

4-19 yrs: 0.20-1.20 mg/dL
0-3 yrs: 0.10-0.50 mg/dL

 

 

CREATININE, URINE

Males: 0.80-2.00 g/24 hours

Females: 0.60-1.80 g/24 hours

 

CREATININE CLEARANCE

60-130 mL/min

Note: Results are calculated using total volume and length of collection and results are adjusted to units/24 hours.
