Methodology

Reverse Transcription-Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) amplification using primers specific for the S- and L-forms of the PML-RARA fusion followed by capillary electrophoresis for size separation.
(PCR is utilized pursuant to a license agreement with Roche Molecular Systems, Inc.)

Submit only 1 of the following specimens:

Specimen Volume: 1-2 mL

Specimen Minimum Volume: 1 mL

Collection Instructions: Invert several times to mix bone marrow. Clotted bone marrow is not acceptable.

Additional Information: If specimen is not couriered, send Express Mail or equivalent for receipt Monday through Friday to avoid specimen degradation.
