Specimen Requirements

Submit only 1 of the following specimens:
  
Preferred:

Specimen Type: Plasma

Container/Tube: Light-green top (lithium heparin)

Specimen Volume: 1 mL

Collection Instructions:

1. Spin down unopened (vacuum intact) tube within 45 minutes of draw.

2. Avoid hemolysis.

3. Label specimen as plasma.

 

Alternate (Non-Hospital Patient):

Specimen Type: Serum

Container/Tube: Gold top, serum gel

Specimen Volume: 1 mL

Collection Instructions:

1. Spin down unopened (vacuum intact) tube within 45 minutes of draw.

2. Avoid hemolysis.

3. Label specimen as serum.

Males

≥12yrs: 45-180 mcg/dL

1mo-12yrs: 50-120 mcg/dL

0-1mo: 100-250 mcg/dL

Females

≥12yrs: 30-170 mcg/dL

1mo-12yrs: 50-120 mcg/dL

0-1mo: 100-250 mcg/dL
