Specimen Type: Blood

Container/Tube  
Preferred:
 Light green-top (lithium heparin) Vacutainer®

Acceptable: Green-top (Lithium Heparin) microtainer®, Gold/Red SST Vacutainer®, Plain, red-top Vacutainer®, or DARK green-top (sodium heparin) Vacutainer®.

Collection Volume:

3.0 mL (minimum 0.6 mL) for Vacutainer®.
If collected in microtainer®, container MUST be full.
Patient Preparation: None
Sample Rejection: Mislabeled or unlabeled specimens.
Special Instructions: Centrifuge and pour off into plastic vial, label with specimen type and freeze. Transport on dry ice.
