Specimen Requirements

 Submit ony 1 of the following specimens:

 

Preferred:

Specimen Type: Plasma

Container/Tube: Light-green top (lithium heparin)

Specimen Volume: 1 mL

Collection Instructions:

1. Spin down unopened (vacuum intact) tube within 2 hours of draw

2. Avoid hemolysis.

 

 

 

Alternate (Non-Hospital Patient):

Specimen Type: Serum

Container/Tube: Gold top, serum gel

Specimen Volume: 2 mL

Collection Instructions:

1. Spin down unopened (vacuum intact) tube within 2 hours of draw.

2. Avoid hemolysis.

 

Reference Values

2-5 years: 60-320 IU/L
5-10 years: 110-360 IU/L
10-12 years: 100-380 IU/L
