Methodology

Ancillary tests available from ThinPrep vial include:

1. Cytology, high-risk human papillomavirus (HPV) test. Order ThinPrep Pap Test with Reflex to High Risk HPV or Thin Prep Pap Test with High Risk HPV.  *PLEASE NOTE: HPV Genotyping will be performed when a PAP test is Negative for intraepithelial lesion or malignancy and the HPV results are positive, in a patient > age 30. This is compliant with current ACOG guidelines.*

2. Amplified nucleic acid testing for Neisseria gonorrhoeae (GC) only, Chlamydia only, or GC/Chlamydia

Specimen Requirements

Specimen Type: Cervix, endocervix, vagina

Container/Tube: Vial with PreservCyt solution

Specimen Volume: Adequate sampling

Collection Instructions:

1. Rinse appropriate collection devices into PreservCyt solution vial.

2. Label vial with patient’s name (first and last), date of birth, date and actual time of collection, and source of specimen.
