Interpretive Data

Rubella IgG

Nonreactive:  No detectable antibody to rubella.  Such individuals are presumed to be uninfected with rubella and to be susceptible to primary infection.

Equivocal: Presence or absence of detectable antibody to rubella cannot be determined. Submit new specimen if clinically indicated.   

Reactive: Results suggest response to immunization or prior exposure to the virus.

Analyte Stability:

Specimen may be stored at 2° C to 8° C for 7 days with no more than 3 freeze/thaw cycles.

Specimen may be frozen at -20° C for 6 months.

Laboratory Processing Instructions:

Test performed in BJH Core Lab.  Processed by automated line for delivery AOB with a minimum of 1 mL of plasma/serum. Completed specimens are stored refrigerated for 7 days.
