Testing Algorithm:
If triglyceride result is >400 mg/dL, then Direct LDL is peformed at an additional charge.

Specimen Requirements
Submit ony 1 of the following specimens:
Specimen must arrive within 14 hours of draw.
Preferred:
Specimen Type: Plasma
Container/Tube: Light-green top (lithium heparin)
Specimen Volume: 4 mL
Collection Instructions:
1. Fasting (12-14 hours)
2. Patient must not consume any alcohol for 24 hours before specimen is drawn.
3. Spin down unopened (vacuum intact) tube within 45 minutes of draw.
4. Avoid hemolysis.
5. Label specimen as plasma.
Alternate (Non-Hospital Patient):
Specimen Type: Serum
Container/Tube: Gold top, serum gel
Specimen Volume: 4 mL
Collection Instructions:
1. Fasting (12-14 hours)
2. Patient must not consume any alcohol for 24 hours before specimen is drawn.
3. Spin down unopened (vacuum intact) tube within 45 minutes of draw.
4. Avoid hemolysis.
5. Label specimen as serum.
