Specimen Requirements
Submit only 1 of the following specimens:
Specimen Type: Plasma
Container/Tube: Light-green top (lithium heparin)
Specimen Volume: 2 mL
Collection Instructions:
No caloric intake at least 8 hours prior to collection
1. Draw a Fasting Glucose specimen
2. Administer 100 g of glucose solution orally to Pregnant female. Glucola should be ingested within 5 minutes, If patient cannot ingest entire bottle in 5 minutes, or vomits, test will need to be repeated.
3. Subsequent specimens should be drawn at 1, 2 and 3-hours after administration of dose.
4. Label specimens appropriately (with corresponding draw time).

Container/Tube: Gold top, serum gel
Specimen Volume: 2 mL
Collection Instructions:
